A conversation designed to clarify terms, historicize claims, and think carefully about Canadian and Israeli settler colonialism, the genocide in Gaza, the ongoing colonization of the West Bank, Palestinian–Indigenous solidarities, student encampments, and the possibilities and limits of decolonial liberation.
Held at Mount Royal University on November 12, 2025, the panel brought recent scholarship into conversation with urgent political questions concerning Palestine, settler colonialism, Indigenous solidarity, student activism, and decolonial liberation.
Public grounding
The panel engaged recent scholarship alongside current developments in order to situate Canadian and Israeli settler colonialism, the genocide in Gaza, the ongoing colonization of the West Bank, Palestinian–Indigenous solidarities, student encampments, and the possibilities and limits of decolonial liberation.
Anchored by two recent books, the conversation was organized around the need to clarify terms, ground claims historically, and create space for careful public discussion across anthropology, political studies, Indigenous studies, and related fields.
